Spring Refresh - Ten Ideas for Home, Style, Health and Wellness

No matter where you are, spring is sure to be in the air by now. I don't know about you but I am ready for it. The longer days, warm weather, fresh blooms...to be honest, the funk has been lifted.

Winter was hard for me this year, I've always experience winter blues, as I am sure most people do, but this year the blues felt a bit deeper. I am not sure if it was moving, not being close to the majority of my network, or just living in a bit of a groundhog day situation, but I feel so ready for this new season.

This spring, take from my ten tips to refresh a bit!

1. Refresh Your Fitness Routine

Idea: Add walks into your days. I am a walker at heart, so you will catch me walking at any time of day. I love a good morning walk because it really sets up my day for success, it's quiet, and I often find myself not even on my phone. If I do happen to be on my phone, it is usually making to-do lists or checking email. An afternoon walk breaks up the day so well, I personally love to get out for even 20 minutes to clear my head a bit and reset. Afternoon walks significantly help me with work, I can't tell you how many times I have been writing a social post and just need to reset, and stepping out allows me to come back to my work with fresh eyes. The evening walk...honestly such a game changer and one that is often skipped. Think about it as a way to break up your work day and your dinner hour, to catch the sunset, or to chat on the phone with a friend.

Idea: Try a new workout class for fun. With longer days you may feel antsy sitting at home after work with the sun very much up, so test out a new workout studio or try at-home workouts. I personally love Melissa Wood Health Pilates-style workouts! The platform offers a free trial if you want to test it out. I have an Amazon list full of at-home workout equipment. Looking for free workouts? I have a blog post with free YouTube workout videos.

2. Get some sun

In the winter I take a vitamin D supplement because I know I am not getting near enough sunlight for my body to thrive. As spring comes around, I wean off my vitamin D and opt for getting out and letting the sun hit my face. I take my walks without sunglasses so that my eyes and face can really get the benefits of vitamin D. I know it sounds a little woowoo, but trust me! Just wear a good SPF and let the sun shine on that face.

3. Cook with spring produce

My farmer's market is starting to pop off with produce and it's driving me to be creative in the kitchen. Check out these recipes that feature spring produce. I will absolutely be adding these into my rotation...

I often save recipes I want to try on my Pinterest, feel free to follow along to see what I am saving!

4. Clean one thing

Yes, you can clean ALL of the things, but if spring cleaning is overwhelming to you, just pick one thing to clean per week. A few ideas can be cleaning out a hall closet, the kitchen junk drawer, your car, going through your pantry or deep cleaning your air fryer. I have an Amazon list of "Kelly-approved" cleaning supplies...you know it is all in the non-toxic realm.

5. Wear colors, florals and flowy clothing.

Idea: Buy a handful of new items. There is no secret that I love to shop, so I won't lie that every season I love a closet refresh, but spring is truly the time for a refresh. I can't go a spring without shopping for pastels, my mood is instantly boosted when I throw on a lilac blouse. J Crew Factory is outdoing itself this season and seems to constantly be having a sale. I grabbed a number of items that are great for spring, but also will be year-round closet staples.

Idea: Thrift or do a clothing swap with your friends. If you are trying to stick to a budget but still want a refresh, I am sure you will luck out at your local thrift store or consignment shop. Someone out there did some spring cleaning and it's about to benefit you! Or, invite all your friends over and tell them to bring a few items they're looking to get rid of, swap clothing or get out the scissors and cut up jeans together.

6. Open your windows every day!

If spring is here I see no excuse not to let fresh air flow through the house. This is especially true if you have been doing spring cleaning. Open your windows and/or doors to get a little airflow and break up that winter dust.

7. Buy yourself flowers

Idea: You'll need an adorable vase to begin with, like this one off Amazon. Now, make sure you locate a local flower shop and stop by once a week to grab a bouquet of flowers. Place them somewhere you'll see every day and smile.

8. Dine al fresco

There is something so special about that first day when you get to dine outdoors. Make it a point to have a drink or meal outdoors this spring, before it is TOO hot to eat outside!

9. Buy an oversized white button down

This is the absolute staple of any closet year-round, but it is a NEED in the spring/summer. There are hundreds of ways to style a white button down and they just make us look oh so put together. Check out this one for Under $25 from Amazon. It has over 5,600 reviews.

10. Make Plans

You can admit that this winter you may not have been the most social person and that is more than ok! The days are longer and the weather is warmer, so maybe it's time to book that group dinner, host a cookout, join a book club or put date night on the calendar (date nights with friends included!). I personally get pretty booked during the summer months, so buying a new planner helps me get all of my plans into one pretty place. Put it all in the gorgeous planner below...

And that is your spring refresh!

I'd love to connect with you on my Instagram page where I share my style, recipes, home finds and more. It's always something new and I love meeting in the DMs.
