Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer and I couldn't be more ready. To tell the truth, I never saw myself as a "summer girl," but this year I am craving summer deeply.
I figured I would kick off this happy season with a few of my summer favorites. From things to do, and summer must-haves, to my "summer bucket list" - let's get started!
In no particular order...
Long morning or evening walks
It's not like everyone doesn't know I love walking (I post about my walks way too often), but in the summer I take daily long walks that are crucial. Typically in the early morning or evening before sunset, you can find me with my belt bag power walking through town. I just love taking advantage of the warm weather and using it as a time to listen to a podcast or silently reflect on what's on my mind.
Bopping around the wharfs
I love a day spent hopping from place to place on the wharf's in Newport. A stop at The Landing, The Lobster Bar, The Black Pearl, Cooke House, Wharf Pub...etc etc etc.

A great girls dinner and/or trip
As my friends and I get older and simply just have more going on, getting together is a challenge, but planning ahead for a dinner or short trip is always so wroth it. I love to pull out a really fabulous dress and go all out for an evening with my best people.
Filling my home with fresh produce and flowers
Let's be honest, in New England fresh produce and florals aren't as easy to come by in the colder months, so in summer it is lovely to grab the strawberries, blackberries, zucchini, wildflowers, sunflowers and more....
A beach night
My absolute favorite time to be at the beach is 4-6pm...the sun is low in the sky and you can throw on a little sweater over your bathing suit. I love sitting around in beach chairs with lots snacks and my people

Reading on the beach
Packing a tote bag filled with a big water bottle, cut fruit, a baseball cap, a white button down, a luxurious towel plus a great book and heading to the beach. Right now I', reading The Perfect Marriage and Andy Cohen's The Daddy Diaries. Maybe this summer I'll make the switch to an e-reader, but for now I promised myself I would get through all of the physical books I own before I allow myself to switch.
Enjoying it
The work doesn't actually stop in the summer, but I do try to enjoy the long days and get in as much fun and relaxation as possible. I hope you do the same this summer.
